BBC 2 did a three part series on Operation Gladio a couple of years ago which provides an interesting context to these events, as does Daniele Ganser&#039;s book &#039;Nato&#039;s Secret Armies:  Operation Gladio and Terrorism in Western Europe&#039;.  These sources provide some persuasive evidence to suggest that elements within the Italian secret state were involved in developing strategy for the BR at this stage.  There is also forensic evidence which suggests that the weapon used and the printing press were provided by Italian military intelligence.

It is a shame that this film isn&#039;t more explicit in its references to Gladio and the strategy of tension  which provide a really crucial context for these events.

In any case an informative film.
