Saul Bass Documentary

Ironic that the titles and production value of this documentary are actually terrible, considering that Saul Bass is the most famous title sequence designer. Nonetheless it is a mesmerizing look at some of the best movie title sequences of all time, narrated by Bass himself.

  1. The Design Museum in London had an exhibition of his work a couple of years ago. Until then I had not realised how innovative his work had been — I guess I was looking at old movies with modern eyes. Beautiful, simple graphics. Fascinating stuff.

  2. Les says:

“To make the ordinary extraordinary” as he puts it toward the end of the video. I think that almost sums up his art and what he was trying to do with movie titles and opening sequences. An amazing talent.
